By Lt. Col. Robert Gayre of Gayre and Nigg M.A., D.Pol.Sc., D.Phil. D.Sc.

The text of this booklet is taken from an edition of Mankind Quarterly published in Edinburgh, Scotland (1960 – 1978). It deals with the folly of forcing different races together under severe compulsion. George Robert Gayre was involved with the military authorities after the Allied occupation of Italy and was one of the first to document the return and growth of the Mafia after the demise of fascism. This information appeared in his bookItaly in Transition published by Faber and Faber in 1946. His previous workTeuton and Slav on the Polish Frontier had been published by Eyre and Spottiswoode in 1944. He became something of an expert on the subject of heraldry and produced several works on the subject.
