STEVEN BOOKS
An Introduction
Steven Books provide, as an information service, a selection of books and booklets published over many years by radical political groups. They wish it to be known that this site has been created purely for educational purposes, providing access to historical resources that are not generally available for students, academics and researchers with a genuine interest in the National Socialist and Fascist phenomena.
This site makes available historic reprints of work, mainly produced over 50 years ago, that seek to extol or explain the National Socialist and Fascist phenomena that assumed global significance for a few decades in the first half of the 20th Century. The propaganda they contain seems to have little or no relevance to the much-changed world we live in today and, therefore, there seems to be no reason not to provide access to them now. Of course, there are idealists and others who would like to see a revival of these radical ideas and policies, but the works on this list are unlikely to be unknown to them.
Many books and articles have been written on this subject, most of which tend to be one-sided. Such works may be of limited value to the serious researchers as they are usually unbalanced in the selection of source material and often tendentious in its use. Even fair and balanced works on the subject rarely reflect the detail, context and true motivation that only the actual words of those involved can convey.
Moreover, as has been pointed out to us by a senior lecturer at a British university that, without knowing the views of both sides of a historical situation, history itself becomes distorted and quickly falls into the realm of propaganda.
Although the purpose of the site is educational, it seems to us that the works may also be useful for anyone concerned about the rise in support for political groups that are perceived as having policies or ideas in some ways comparable to National Socialism and Fascism. For we take the view that without knowing, accurately and in detail, what one's opponents are or were espousing, it is not possible to adequately confront them.
We realise, of course, that many of the works on our list are controversial. From the inception of Steven Books, however, our policy has been not to publish or supply any work that might infringe UK law.
Let Truth and Falsehood grapple: whoever knew Truth put to the worse in a free and open encounter.
