Arnold Leese, was the founder of the Imperial Fascist League which he set up after breaking away from the earlier British Fascisti. Arnold Leese was described by a judge, before whom he appeared on one occasion as "having a bee in his bonnet about Jews". This is reflected in all he did and wrote. Arnold Leese was by profession a veterinary surgeon. During the First World War he was charged with the task of purchasing camels for the British army Camel Corps in the Middle East. He later wrote a book on the subject of camels and their ailments and it became the standard text book on the subject for the military - and perhaps still is. After this he served in the veterinary branch of the army and saw service during the Great War in France. Later in civilian life he had his own veterinary practice and became a fascist local councillor.
