Interviewed by Serge Brousseau
This booklet consist of an introduction by James K. Warner which gives detailed biographical information about Adrien Arcand. It describes how he was Director and Editor of Le Patriote Le Chameau, Le Miroir the of L'Illustration Nouvelle, Le Combat National, L'UniteNationale, to mention only some of the more important publications.
In 1934, the Supreme Council of a rightist movement called Le Parti National Social Chretien (National Social Christian) unanimously elected him leader. In 1938 he was elected leader of the National Unity Party of Canada, in Kingston, Ontario. He remained so until his death.
In June 1940 his party was declared illegal, and he was sent, along with his leading members to a concentration camp until the war was over.
The main text of the booklet is in the form of an interview with Arcand by Serge Brousseau who was a reporter for the newspaper Nouvelles Mustrees. It was printed in full in April 1961. Arcand is asked very pertinent questions about Adolf Hitler, The Second World War and the holocaust. However the crux of the interview is Adrien Arcand's view that an idea and a philosophy can still be victorious, even if its adherents are physically destroyed. Hence the title of this booklet.
