This work was first published in a 1938 edition of The Patriot which was once the magazine of The Duke of Northumberland. Nesta Webster was well known for her research and knowledge of subversive and secret societies. She was very anti-Bolshevik and was reputed to have joined the British Union of Fascists during their Peace campaign in the late 1930s.
