The book begins with the following statement:
The power of the banking and financial systems over all of us must be brought to an end if we are to survive as a free people. Elected by none, responsible to none, they have used their power of credit creation, usurped from the people whose sovereign right it is, to further there own ends and have reduced this age of plenty in which we live to a condition of artificial scarcity, economic insecurity, privation, suffering and even actual starvation.
For those who are rather perplexed with the principles of Social Credit this excellent booklet will make things clearer. Great deference is paid to Major C.H. Douglas who was a great pioneer in this field. It is pointed out that Douglas hoped to change the system without need of a political party.Chambers-Hunter disagrees on that point. For the rest ie. analysis of what was wrong, and how it should be put right – there is complete agreement.
Before World War 2 Chambers-Hunter was a leading official of the British Union of Fascists in Scotland and one of its most courageous members. Although one-armed, he sold Action, the party’s newspaper, in the streets and endured many brutal attacks. Later he concentrated his efforts on promoting financial reform. After the war he became a member of the National Council of the League of Empire Loyalists founded by A. K. Chesterton.
