This mini biography was first published in the now out of print book "Thinkers of the Right"
Ezra pound, is heralded as the
"founding father" of modern English literature and yet he was denied
honours during his lifetime. He was born in 1885 in Idaho, USA.
Ezra Pound's utter condemnation of the usury system employed by
democratic capitalism so upset his government that they imprisoned him
for 13 years because he had spoken on the Italian radio during the
war on cultural matters. He was a
friend of the Mosley's, and wrote articles for their periodicals and was also a great supporter of Social Credit.
This very small stanza of his work really gets to the root of the
matter:
... Stone cutter is kept from his stone
Weaver is kept from his loom
WITH USURA Wool comes not to market
Sheep bring not gain with usura
Usura rusteth the chisel
It rusteth the craft and the craftsman
It gnaweth the thread in the loom...
Usura slayeth the child in the womb
It stayeth the young mans courting
it hath brought palsey to bed, lyeth
Between the bride and her bridegoom
