From the National Unity Part (NUP) journal Serviam.
The lack of information about this little known but important movement outside of Canada is corrected in this work. It describes the formation of the party and it covers two meetings, one in Kingston and the other in the Massey Hall, Toronto, both of which took place in 1938.
The speeches from delegates from various provinces are covered including Mr C.S. Thomas who represented a youth group from British Columbia, Mr O'Keefe who spoke for the Atlantic region, and Mr John S. Lynds, Mr J.C. Cole and Mr R.J. Chopp for Manitoba. Mr Farr spoke for Ontario and Mr J.M. Scott for Quebec. The Social Christian Party and the Canadian National Party announced their fusion with the NUP.
Adrien Arcand's
response is given at some length. There is also a description of the efforts made by the Communist opposition to prevent the conference. At the second meeting 2,500 persons were in attendance and 1,870 new members were announced within a few days of the founding of the party.
