By K. Thompson.
A contrary view.
Although German women were encouraged to be housewives and mothers a later labour shortage in Germany led many to return to work. An equal pay for equal work policy was in place but this was not fully realised in all industries during the short period available to the German Government before the war. Women who wished to pursue a non domestic path were allowed to do so and the most famous examples of this are Leni Riefenstahl the film maker and Hanna Reitsch the aircraft test pilot. Many other examples are given.
