By Father Coughlin
He was called the Radio Priest. He was well known before WWII for his radio broadcasts in America. He called his group The Radio League of the Little Flower. His organisation was called The National Union For Social Justice. At one time his broadcasts were transmitted on 30 stations and his listeners ran into millions. This book is the transcript of one of his broadcasts in 1935.
Although he was of course a Catholic he made it clear that he wanted to speak to members of all religions. His main concern was the economic depression and what he called the Wall Streeters. He blamed the banking system and the way that the money supply was organised and manipulated for the profit of a few and the misery of the masses.
In this broadcast he is responding to a vicious attack by General Hugh Johnson. This gives him the opportunity to put over his ideas and solutions to the problems facing the USA.
