Few people realise that this camp was handed over to the allies because the German authorities could no longer feed and look after the prisoners. The author claims that massive overcrowding and decease, particularly typhus and cholera, caused many of the horrors. Allied bombing of railways which interfered with food deliveries made a bad situation very much worse. This is an interesting new look at the situation inside Belsen Concentration camp. pp.16
