This historical reprint should be read with the awareness of the times and conditions, which existed before the war in Britain. In those desperate years millions of workers were unemployed and lived in the most appalling conditions. Housing was bad and overcrowding endemic. Wages were poor and the conditions, even for skilled men, were degrading and humiliating.
In spite of the trade union movement, the workers had no way of improving their lot, except by strike action.
Therefore, it was natural that some new way of bringing social justice to Britain’s population should be sought. Consequently, with the Italian example before them and to a lesser extent that of Germany, a scheme that worked on similar lines was devised and propagated by Sir Oswald Mosley’s British Union of Fascists.
This A4 size production explains how each section of the population would elect their own representatives by trade or profession, with housewives and Mothers having a special vote of their own. A useful chart is included explaining the entire proposed structure of a British version of the corporate state.
