The BUF Medical Council Plans for an improvement in public health by a panel of medical experts within the Blackshirt movement. The introduction to this booklet says that the issue of public health was of the most vital importance to the nation. They firstly stress the need for more education of the general public and point out that because of ignorance many people delay reporting symptoms earlier enough to ensure effective treatment. The proposed structure of a new Ministry of Health on corporate lines is explained and separate sections deal with each aspect of the various departments. Nursing, Maternity, General Medical. Opthalmic, Dental, Research and Pharmaceutical etc. etc. This booklet was composed before The National Health Service existed and was radical in its day.
