Steps to War

Significant events that led up to the Second World War. Although some of these occurances may have seemed of minor importance at the time - they began the build up towards the conditions that made the declaration of war inevitable.
During the 1930s the "war party" removed or were lucky in having the obstacles to war removed. The abdication of King Edward VIII, and the killing or otherwise demise of the popular hero Lawrence of Arabia. The completly false allegations that Hitler snubbed Jesse Owens at the Olympic Games. that the Nazis burned the Reichstag, the event of Crystal Night in 1938 and many other seemingly odd events built up by the mass media created a climate that made war seem inevitable.
