There are many ways of influencing public opinion,The most common way for radical political parties is through leaflets and meetings. However, music, flags, newspapers, banners and "bags of drama" also play a part.
Serious political books and policy statements are of course widely used but the novel also has a part to play. There are not many of them, and apart from a very few authors more work in this area could be done. Main-line publishers would certainly not be prepared to handle books on the theme of racial politics or even books that showed the Nazis in anything but a bad light.
The revolution in printing methods which make short run, cheap, and easy production possible should make controversial material more readily available.
The books produced one hundred years ago, and more, were often much less inhibited by political correctness than those published today, Shakespeare, Conrad and Dickens, being prime examples.
